Healthcare businesses, one of the nascent opportunities linked to the Chinese middle class, generally benefit from high barriers to entry, innovation and pricing power – all ingredients that Comgest seeks when analysing a company’s long-term growth potential. Our view is that this sector offers a lot of compelling long-term stock picking opportunities.
The Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect, launched in December 2016, is the second leg of a Chinese Connect Scheme. The program began in 2014 with the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect and offers foreigners seeking to invest in mainland Chinese equities the only direct alternative to A-share quotas.
Members of Comgest’s team combined the two commercial cities of Bengaluru and Mumbai during a recent research trip, which in our view reinforced the general enthusiasm held by foreign investors – that things in India are progressing.
